PPWR – Master any challenge with PEKU!
From 2030 onwards, all packaging must be recyclable and contain a minimum proportion of PCR material. This, in a nutshell, is the content of the PPWR Regulation introduced by the European Union.
PPWR stands for Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation and therefore affects all companies that produce, import or distribute packaging. This is because they must ensure that their packaging meets all requirements.
PPWR poses challenges for the packaging industry
The PPWR Regulation is fundamentally changing the packaging industry. By 2030 at the latest, all packaging films for non-contact-sensitive areas, i.e. excluding food and pharmaceutical products, must contain at least 35% PCR.
Prepare for the future with monomaterial now!
Our PE films already guarantee high recyclability. Depending on customer requirements or specifications, we can offer products with a recycled content of up to 80 per cent. Our mono-material already guarantees high recyclability.
Areas of application: Gardening and hygiene industry
On the safe side with PEKU films
When the regulation comes into force on 1 January 2030, packaging will be classified into three different categories. You assess how recyclable the respective packaging is:
A (at least 95% recyclability), B (at least 80%), C (at least 70%).
| Packaging | 2030 | 2040 |
|---|---|---|
| PET, contact sensitive | 30 % | 50 % |
| Contact sensitive, all except PET | 10 % | 25 % |
| drink bottles | 30 % | 65 % |
| All plastic packaging (except 1–3) | 35 % | 65 % |
